Abstract

In this work, barium titanate (BaTiO3 or BT) ceramic has been prepared by aconventional mixed oxide method with sintering temperature at 1250-1450 ??C. The sampleswere characterized the phase formation by using X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), thedensity by using Archimedes method, the microstructure by scanning electron microscope(SEM) and the hysteresis properties by using modified Sawer-Tower circuit. The hysteresisparameters such as saturation polarization (Ps), remanent polarization (Pr) and coercive field(Ec) were measured as a function of sintering temperatures. The results show that thesaturation polarization (Ps) increases with increasing sintering temperature, whereas theremanent polarization (Pr) and the coercive field (Ec) decrease, a characteristic of theenhanced ferroelectric interaction for BT ceramic.
